🔮 How It Works

How the MHT-CET College Predictor Works

Our predictor uses real CAP Round I, II & III closing cutoff data from 2024–25 published by DTE Maharashtra. When you enter your percentile or rank, we compare it against historical closing cutoffs for every course at every college — giving you a Safe / Moderate / Reach classification in seconds.

1️⃣
Enter Your Score
Input percentile (up to 4 decimal places) or your CRL rank from the official MHT-CET result.
2️⃣
Select Category
Choose your reservation category — OPEN, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, VJ, NT1/NT2/NT3, SEBC, TFWS, or Ladies.
3️⃣
Filter by Stream & Branch
Pick Engineering or Pharmacy, narrow by branch (CS, ENTC, Mech…), district, or university.
4️⃣
Read Your Results
Colleges are ranked by buffer — how far your score is above or below the historical cutoff.
📊 Result Labels

What Does Safe, Moderate & Reach Mean?

Each college result is tagged based on how your score compares to the previous year's closing cutoff for that course and category. Here is what each label means and how to use it strategically:

✅ Safe
Your score is 5+ percentile above the 2024–25 cutoff
You have a strong probability of getting this college-branch combination. These should be your "lock" choices in the CAP Round option form. Fill at least 3–5 safe colleges to secure a seat.
⚡ Moderate
Your score is within 0–5 percentile of the 2024–25 cutoff
Reasonable chance — cutoffs can shift ±2–3 percentile year on year. These are your "realistic ambition" picks. Include a mix of moderate colleges in your option form along with safe ones.
🎯 Reach
Your score is up to 10 percentile below the 2024–25 cutoff
Unlikely but not impossible — cutoffs sometimes fall due to fewer applicants or seat increases. Add 1–2 reach options at the top of your form, but do not rely on them as your primary plan.
🗺 CAP Round Strategy

How to Use This Tool for CAP Round Option Form

The CAP Round option form is your most important decision in the admission process. You can fill up to 300 preferences — college + branch combinations — in order of priority. Here is how to use the predictor strategically:

🏆
Put your dream college first
Start your list with your ideal college and branch, even if it is a Reach. The system allocates the best option you qualify for — there is no penalty for ranking ambitious choices high.
📋
Fill at least 20–30 preferences
Students who fill more preferences have a much higher chance of getting a seat they are happy with. Use our predictor to generate Safe and Moderate options across your preferred districts.
🔄
Upgrade in CAP Round 2 & 3
If you get a seat in Round 1 that is not your top choice, you can still participate in Round 2 and 3 to try to upgrade. Re-run the predictor after each round with updated cutoffs.
📍
Use the District filter wisely
If staying close to home matters, use the district filter to narrow results to your preferred city or region. This is especially useful for students from Pune, Mumbai, Nashik, and Nagpur.
🏦
Consider TFWS seats
Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) seats are available to economically weaker students with strong scores. Run the predictor with TFWS as your category to see if top colleges become accessible.

🪪 Categories

MHT-CET Reservation Categories Explained

Selecting the correct category is critical — the wrong selection will show you cutoffs that do not apply to you. Here is a quick reference for all categories supported in the predictor:

OPEN
General / unreserved category. Highest cutoff. Anyone can compete for OPEN seats regardless of caste.
OBC
Other Backward Classes. 19% reservation in state colleges. Requires valid non-creamy layer certificate.
SC / ST
Scheduled Caste (13%) and Scheduled Tribe (7%). Requires caste certificate from competent authority.
EWS
Economically Weaker Section. 10% reservation for families with annual income below ₹8 lakh (non-reserved categories).
VJ / DT / NT
Vimukta Jati, De-notified Tribes, and Nomadic Tribes (NT1, NT2, NT3). Separate sub-categories with distinct cutoffs.
TFWS
Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme. 5% seats with full tuition waiver for economically weaker students. Often has higher cutoffs than OPEN.
SEBC
Socially & Educationally Backward Classes (Maratha community). Subject to current court orders — check official DTE notices.
Ladies (LOPEN)
Seats reserved exclusively for female candidates within the OPEN category. Often has slightly lower cutoffs than general OPEN.
💡 Tip: If your category cutoff shows no results for a course, the predictor automatically falls back to the OPEN cutoff and flags it. Always verify eligibility with official DTE Maharashtra documentation.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this MHT-CET college predictor?
The predictor is based on actual recent CAP Round closing cutoffs, not estimated or crowd-sourced data. Cutoffs can still move from year to year, so use the result as a planning guide and verify final choices with official counselling data when it is published.
Can I use my rank instead of percentile?
Yes. Switch to By Rank mode in the input form and enter your CRL rank from the official MHT-CET result card. The predictor will compare your rank against historical rank-based cutoffs for each course.
What is the difference between CAP Round I, II, and III?
CAP has multiple allotment rounds. Round I allots seats from the initial option form, while later rounds re-allot vacant or surrendered seats and allow upgrades. Cutoffs can change across rounds, so the predictor uses historical closing data to estimate practical options.
Why do some results show OPEN cutoff even though I selected OBC?
Some college-branch combinations may not have a separate recorded cutoff for the selected category. In those cases, the predictor falls back to the OPEN cutoff and labels it clearly. Treat this as a reference and verify eligibility with the official CAP documents.
Can I save colleges and compare them later?
Yes. Use the heart icon on a result to add it to your shortlist. The shortlist is saved locally on your device, so you can return to it later and clear it whenever needed.
Is this tool affiliated with DTE Maharashtra or the government?
No. PredictCollege.in is an independent educational tool and is not affiliated with DTE Maharashtra, the Maharashtra State Government, or any official body. Always verify final admission decisions with the official CET Cell website.
Do I need to register or pay anything to use the predictor?
No. The predictor is free to use and does not require registration, login, or payment.
What is the High Demand tag on some branches?
High Demand branches, such as Computer Science, IT, and AI/ML, historically see faster seat fill-up and stronger cutoff movement between rounds. If you are targeting these branches, give extra weight to Safe results and avoid relying only on Moderate or Reach options.

💰 Education Loan

How to Finance Your Engineering Admission — Education Loan Guide 2026

After securing a seat through MHT-CET CAP rounds, an education loan is often the fastest way to pay your first-year fees before the deadline. Banks and NBFCs offer loans that cover tuition, hostel, books, and even a laptop. Here is everything you need to know.

🏦
Government Bank Loans
SBI Student Loan Scheme offers up to ₹10 lakh without collateral and up to ₹1.5 crore with security. Interest rates start around 8.15% p.a. Apply through the Vidya Lakshmi portal to reach multiple banks in one form.
🏢
Private Bank & NBFC Options
HDFC Credila, Axis Bank, and Avanse Financial Services disburse loans in 5–7 working days with minimal documentation. Top-ranked colleges (VJTI, COEP, ICT Mumbai) often get pre-approved loan offers.
📋
Key Documents Needed
Admission letter, fee structure, MHT-CET scorecard, 10th & 12th marksheets, Aadhaar, PAN, income proof of co-applicant (parent), 6-month bank statements, and 2 passport-size photographs.
📉
Government Subsidy (CSIS)
Students from EWS families (income below ₹4.5 lakh/year) qualify for full interest subsidy during the study period under the Central Sector Interest Subsidy scheme. Apply through the Vidya Lakshmi portal with your bank.
💡 Timing Tip: Apply for education loan pre-approval before your CAP Round 1 seat is allotted — pre-approval prevents seat cancellation due to delayed fee payment and gives you negotiating power on interest rates.

Repayment begins 6–12 months after course completion or 1 year after employment, whichever is earlier. Interest paid qualifies for Section 80E deduction under Income Tax Act — a meaningful saving during repayment. Always compare processing fees and prepayment penalty clauses across lenders before signing.
