Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering (FRCRCE), Bandra West, Mumbai, is one of Maharashtra's well-established Christian-minority autonomous engineering colleges. Operated under Catholic management, FRCRCE holds Religious Minority – Christian status — which is fundamentally different from the Gujarathi Linguistic Minority colleges like DJSCE and KJ Somaiya. This distinction creates a radically different MI seat opportunity, as we will explain below.

FRCRCE offers 4 engineering programmes. With CSE OPEN at 97.91%, it sits in the same competitive band as KJ Somaiya CSE (97.88%) — a genuinely sought-after Mumbai autonomous college. Its Bandra location, known discipline standards, and strong alumni network make it a smart target for students in the 95–98% range.

OPEN Category Closing Percentile – All Branches

Before looking at any branch cutoffs, every Christian student needs to understand how FRCRCE's MI seats work — because they are dramatically different from Gujarathi Linguistic Minority seats at DJSCE or KJ Somaiya.

At a Gujarathi Linguistic Minority college, the MI pool is concentrated: many high-achieving Gujarathi students compete for a small number of seats, often pushing MI cutoffs above OPEN (as we saw with DJSCE CSE MI at 99.67%). At FRCRCE, the MI pool consists of Christian students across all communities — a much smaller percentage of MHT CET test-takers relative to available MI seats. The result: MI cutoffs are far, far below OPEN, giving Christian students a genuine pathway to a Mumbai autonomous college at percentile levels that would not qualify for any other autonomous seat.

Christian Minority (MI) Closing Ranks at FRCRCE — 2024-25

CSE is the hardest branch to get into at FRCRCE on general merit. The OPEN category closed at rank 6,201 (97.91 percentile) — almost identical to KJ Somaiya CSE (97.88%). Students in this range who want to stay in Mumbai and secure an autonomous CS degree will find FRCRCE CSE highly competitive but attainable.

The TFWS seat closed at rank 5,913 (98.00%) — harder than OPEN. This is the TFWS trap in action. Ladies OPEN at rank 7,887 (97.39%) is easier than General OPEN, consistent with this college's pattern across all branches. The Christian MI seat closed at rank 37,182 (87.39%) — more than 10 percentile points below OPEN — making it one of Mumbai's best CS entry points for eligible Christian students at the 87–90% range.

Computer Engineering is virtually identical to CSE in terms of competition and curriculum outcome. The OPEN category closed at rank 6,440 (97.84 percentile) — just 239 ranks below CSE OPEN (rank 6,201). Students who miss CSE by a narrow margin will find Computer Engineering at FRCRCE a nearly equivalent option with only a marginal gap in difficulty.

Once again, TFWS is harder than OPEN: TFWS closed at rank 5,572 (98.11%) vs OPEN at rank 6,440 (97.84%). The gap is 0.27 percentile — larger than the CSE gap. Christian MI closed at rank 38,476 (86.86%), almost identical to CSE MI.

Electronics and Computer Science is a distinctive programme — not pure E&TC, not pure CS, but a hybrid designed for careers spanning hardware-software interfaces: embedded systems, IoT, signal processing, and systems engineering. The OPEN category closed at rank 10,047 (96.67 percentile) — a meaningful step down from the pure CS branches.

Unlike the CS branches, TFWS here is easier than OPEN: TFWS closed at rank 11,283 (96.28%) vs OPEN at rank 10,047 (96.67%). This is a genuine TFWS opportunity — if you want an FRCRCE degree with fee waiver and score in the 96–97% range, E&CS TFWS is your most accessible route. Christian MI closed at rank 1,29,370 (45.46%) — essentially open to any Christian student who passes the exam with a moderate score.

Mechanical Engineering is FRCRCE's most accessible branch on all metrics. The OPEN category closed at rank 16,884 (94.39 percentile). This sits in a band where a student who misses the CS branches by a significant margin can still land at a well-regarded Mumbai autonomous college in Bandra.

TFWS is easier than OPEN here: TFWS closed at rank 20,940 (93.03%) — a real fee-waiver opportunity for students in the 93–94% range. Ladies OPEN at rank 23,263 (92.28%) is considerably more accessible than General OPEN. And the Christian MI figure is extraordinary: rank 1,54,154 (27.42 percentile). This means even a student who passed MHT CET at just above the 27th percentile — comfortably within the middle of the pack — can secure Mechanical Engineering at FRCRCE Bandra if they hold Christian minority eligibility.
